Throwing in elements of funk, disco, reggae, soul and breaks, Rae creates something far more varied and loose-limbed than his previous work--kind of like classic Rae & Christian without the soulful polish. At times, Rae Road is akin to a rougher, lo-fi version of Aim's Cold Water Music--at others, it sounds like the best album Mr Scruff never made.
