Details: Based on an astonishing yet forgotten chapter of Olympic history, Berlin 36 chronicles the courageous journey of German–Jewish high jump star Gretel Bergmann. In 1936, Nazi-controlled Germany is faced with a crisis: the U.S. has threatened to boycott the Berlin Summer Games if German–Jewish athletes are barred from competing, specifically gold medal favourite Bergmann.
