What is less well known is that Vangelis was once on the cusp of joining rock supergroup Yes (in between Rick Wakeman leaving and Patrick Moraz joining). It was this association which led to Yes's lead singer, Jon Anderson guesting on Vangelis' album\nHeaven and Hell, performing the song which became this collection's title track, the beautiful \"So Long Ago, So Clear\". The success of this release led, under the name Jon and Vangelis, to a series of popular albums and hit singles, and this extensive anthology assembles both the best of these works and some of Vangelis' finest solo material. The expected hits are present, with \"I'll Find My Way Home\" and \"State of Independence\" and well-known film themes from\nChariots of Fire and\n1492: Conquest of Paradise.
