To their detractors, the Vancouver quartet is simply a pop group who continue to make the same record over and over again. Still, there's something to be said for consistency. Centred on Neil Osborne's nasal voice, 54-40's chugging pop occasionally rocks out or quiets down for a piano ballad, but never really deviates from the well-worn groove.
Trusted by Millions, from 1996, is no different. Written around the world, each song lists the inspirational location after its title. The disc is slightly heavier than normal, with the group even bringing in
Rage Against the Machine producer Garth Richardson to add some menace to a couple of tracks. The only break in Osborne's lyrical paeans to ennui and boy-girl drama is the pro-choice rocker "Stick to Milly," but even this rocks hard enough to ensure that the serious message gets heads nodding. As solid as it sounds.
--Matt Galloway

UPC: 074648023127

EAN: 0074648023127

Languages: English

Binding: Audio CD

Item Condition: UsedVeryGood
