L'action se passe essentiellement au Lac Mystère, dans la beauté sauvage d'un lieu retiré où la nature devient bientôt angoissante avec le hurlement des coyotes, le cri des huards, un corps qui flotte sous l'eau et le criminel qui rôde aux alentours. Les protagonistes qui se retrouvent dans ce huis clos naturel ont des comportements souvent insolites, comme si le lac rendait tout le monde un peu fou...
