But Chapman's subdued sound can't conceal the unabated anger of her lyrics. \"Freedom Now\", dedicated to Nelson Mandela, \"Material World and \"Subcity\", a scalding diatribe against racism and urban poverty are reminiscent of Nina Simone in their quivering indignation.
